Customer obligations under California pawn transactions

This notice summarizes conduct customers are expected to follow when obtaining or servicing a pawn loan at this location. It does not replace statute, local rules, posted signage, or your written pawn ticket and loan agreement.

Purpose. California law, applicable city and county ordinances, and this licensee’s policies set your rights and duties. As a customer, you must comply with lawful identification and reporting requirements, give accurate information about pledged property, review and accept disclosed loan terms before receiving funds, retain your ticket and receipts, meet redemption or renewal deadlines, and cooperate with lawful verification or law-enforcement procedures when they apply.

  1. 1. Identification and contact information

Provide accurate identification and current contact information as required for the transaction. If your telephone number or address changes, notify the store promptly so notices regarding maturity, default, redemption, or disputes may reach you.

  2. 2. Collateral representations and cooperation

Answer truthfully regarding ownership and how you obtained pledged items, within the scope required by law. Cooperate with lawful holds, verification steps, or investigations the store is required to conduct or facilitate.

  3. 3. Review of terms before signing or receiving funds

Before you sign documents or receive loan proceeds, confirm the principal, fees, charges, interest or annual cost (if disclosed), maturity date, grace or redemption periods, and whether renewal or extension is available. Request clarification from staff for any term you do not understand.

  4. 4. Ticket and supporting documents

Safeguard your pawn ticket, receipts, and copies of terms provided to you. You may need these records for redemption, renewal, disputes, or to establish what was pledged.

  5. 5. Redemption and renewal deadlines

Redeem collateral by the contract maturity date, or follow the store’s stated process and deadlines for renewal or grace if offered. If you do not redeem as allowed, disposition of collateral is governed by your agreement and applicable California law.

  6. 6. Law enforcement and regulatory holds

If a lawful police hold, reporting duty, or investigation applies, cooperate with the licensee and authorized agencies as required.
